2012 Prize List        Top Fundraiser Club        Mission First Club

Getting Started

Truly, the best fundraising tip is simply to be optimistic and excited! People will respond to your passion and energy. With enthusiasm and a plan, raising $250 or more can be easy.

And, with a little dedication, you can be well on your way to earning a 2012 Official Ride Jersey by raising $500+, or joining the 2012 Top Fundraiser Club by raising $1,000 or more.

Many riders successfully turn their fundraising efforts into creative outlets for their dedication to the cause. The goal for the National MS Society is to propel your fundraising efforts to new heights as you join the movement to create a world free of MS. We can help you reach your fundraising goals, if you follow these 5 easy steps:

Step 1.
First thing first, log in to your account. Once you’ve logged in customize your website with your story for why you ride and a photograph. Through your account you can easily send emails to family, friends and co-workers asking for their support.

Step 2.
Identify your prospects. The list is endless, it should include: friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, classmates, and people you give your business to year round (dry cleaner, dentist, favorite restaurant etc). Remember it never hurts to ask, the more people you ask the better your return will be. Use our Know Your Networks Worksheet as a guide.

Step 3.
Ask for donations. There are many different ways to do it, via email, mail, in person or online, choose the one that most fits your style. Here are tools to help you reach your goals.

Step 4.
Thank your generous donors! Send emails, personal letters/cards, or make a personal visit to your donors to let them know how much you appreciate their support!

And more!

Did you know?

  • The Pacific Northwest has one of the highest incidence rates of MS in the world.
  • Children as young as two years-old are being diagnosed with MS.
  • More than half of all people with MS are unable to work.

People living with MS face an uncertain future because they cannot predict the timing, severity or nature of their symptoms. They often live, not knowing whether they will be able to continue working, caring for their families, or living the lifestyle they have grown to know.
